During this time, eight of an eventual eleven states would secede from the United States in an attempt to establish "The Confederate States of America". This gun was built during a political storm and fallout from the presidential election of 1860. To some, this is just a Colt 1851 Navy Revolver but what makes it interesting is its place in U.S. Even the percussion nipples on the cylinder and mainspring appear to be original to the gun. This 1851 is remarkably original down to the smallest screw. Even the fragile hand-inked number on the inside of the grips is still visible and matching. The serial numbers are 100% matching throughout including the wedge. Standard 7-1/2" octagonal barrel with six shot cylinder and walnut grips. The barrel has a standard one-line Hartford Address which only appeared on this model from approx. This is a good solid example of a Colt 1851 Navy Revolver that was built in late 1860 with a strong association to the Confederacy.
